Oh Canada – back in the Capital!

Well, made my way back to Ottawa this week. Drove down from Toronto on Sunday and I am here until Friday for work – mostly networking with some government officials and other people from industry organizations. I love Ottawa – been here a few times already. For some reason, now it just feels like I am coming back home. The city is rather small (especially when compared to Toronto) but it has such a cozy feeling. There are a few areas that I particularly enjoy to see every time I am here such as the cafes and bakeries near Byward Market, the bars on Elgin Street, Parliament Hill and Rideau Mall.

This morning I had the chance to check out Café 55 at the Byward Market. They have the most amazing Mokaccinos! And the croissants are not bad either, although I hear that The French Baker just 2 blocks away has the most famous croissants in Ottawa. If you love good coffee and a delicious pastry or cake, check out Provence Café on the north side of the Market. It’s a rather famous place – they have all these pictures with famous people that have visited the café, including President Obama (check out the ‘Obama cookie’!). My favourite things from there are the éclairs, réligieuses (same taste as éclairs but different shape) and the palm leaves (they look like hearts).
