Things to do in Strasbourg:

1. Cathedrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg  –  This cathedral is very imposing and, most likely, it will be one of the first things you will notice as a visitor.You will be able to see the dome from almost anywhere in the city. Reaching a height of 142 metres, the cathedral is the tallest medieval structure on the continent built during medieval times .

2. La Petite France  –  The Petite France area is one of the most beautiful parts of Strasbourg. Take a walk to admire the old houses and narrow streets. There are plenty of cafes to sit outside and enjoy the day. La Petite France is a district full of old half-timbered buildings As you admire the area, make sure to look up. You will see wagon wheels on top of many buildings. These are to encourage storks (la cigogne – the city’s symbol) to nest there.

3. European Parliament – The European Union (EU) government has two locations for its parliament, one in Strasbourg and one in Brussels. Although most meetings happen in brussels, the European Parliament in Strasbourg is nonetheless an important place for parliamentarians to meet.

4. Place Kleber – The Place Kléber is the central square of Strasbourg. It was named after general Jean-Baptiste Kléber, born in Strasbourg in 1753. Here you will find his statue. This large square has been named a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.  Most of the luxury shops have opened here.

5. Place Gutenberg  –  This large public square is one of the icons of the city centre. Surrounded by amazing Alsace architecture, a mixture of French and German influence, the square has a selection of fine cafes and restaurants to choose from. You will find Place Gutenberg two blocks west of the Cathedral.

6. Palais Episcopal des Rohans  –  The Palais Rohan (Rohan Palace) is one of the most important buildings in the city of Strasbourg in Alsace, France.  As a representative of baroque architecture, it houses three of the most important museums in the city : the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Decorative Arts  and the Museum of Fine Arts.

7. Council of Europe  –  Strasbourg is a host for several European institutions. One of them is Council of Europe. The Council of Europe is completely independent from the European Union. The Council includes countries that are not members of the EU. The Council of Europe has 46 member states, and its purpose is to promote democracy, human rights and European integration.

8. L’Ill  –  Last but not least, take a walk along the L’Ill river. The scenery, architecture and colourful flowers will take your breath away. Boat tours are also available.
